There are so many wedding photographers to choose from in Lancashire, what should we look for in a wedding photographer?

You will want to view examples of a wedding photographers photography, David has a large number of wedding photographs on this website, by clicking on the Wedding Books button at the top of your screen you will see several Wedding Book's. These feature complete real life weddings, the images have all been selected by the Bride & Groom's. David feels it is very important to view a good range of wedding images as any wedding photographer can compile a "best of collection" showing just a couple of photographs from a large number of weddings and often using models!

If you like what you see on the website the next thing to do will be to speak to the wedding photographer on the telephone, you can tell a lot about someone's personaility by speaking to them. The first question David gets asked is "are you available on such and such a date to photograph our wedding at..........and then onto.........?" Then you will need to inform the wedding photographer of the wedding photography coverage you have in mind and wether you would like a wedding book or a disc only option (Shoot and Burn). At this point you will almost certainly like to know how much all this is going to cost! The reason why David dosen't display price lists online is that he taylor makes his prices to wedding couples individual requirements.

How soon should I book my wedding photographer?

There are many wedding photographers in Lancashire, but the best photographers will get booked up quickly. Booking a photographer between 12-18 months before the wedding date is advisable to avoid disappointment. David is already taking bookings for 2011 & 2012!

What do you wear on the day?

David is always well presented and prefers to wear a suit and tie when photographing weddings, which enables him to blend in with wedding guests.

 [TOP]

How long does the photography take?

You remain completely in control of the amount of time we spend on photography during the day. We offer a free consultation with you beforehand to find out exactly how you would like the photography to be planned around your day, so everything is planned and agreed beforehand.

 [TOP]

How long do you stay during the wedding?

We have many flexible options to suit your budget and requirements, including getting ready before the wedding (bridal preparations), the wedding ceremony, after the ceremony, wedding speeches and evening reception. Our starting package includes photography coverage from just before the ceremony, capturing all the key moments - through to just before you sit down for your meal, concluding with the mock cutting of the cake.

 [TOP]

How many wedding photographs do you take?

We take an almost unlimited amount of photographs, these are then edited to select the best. David will shoot a number of identical photographs to ensure as many eyes are open on the group shots. Sara will then individually assess each image and colour correct, adjusting where necessary to create the best possible photograph. A typical wedding may have about 300-400 photos for you to choose from, depending on the length of photographic coverage and the weather!

 [TOP]

How many wedding photographs will we get?

For most of our Wedding Book packages, we do not limit the amount of photos you can choose. The final quantity of images will depend on the size of your Wedding Book. A typical 40 page side Wedding Book will contain upto 70 images.

What if we don’t want loads of stuffy group photographs?

Great – we don’t want this either! You are completely in control of the kind of photography you would like for your day, some couples like a selection of group photos, others like us to capture just informal gatherings of guests enjoying the reception, and of course we can do a mixture of both. We can help you plan and guide you on how to avoid a long list of group photographs, David recommends a maximum of 12 groups anymore than this and guests can begin to get fed-up. At the end of the day this is a recommendation, it is your day and you call the shots!

What if I don’t like my photograph being taken?

We often find that the couples who tell us, when we first meet, that they do not generally like their photos being taken, actually enjoy the wedding photography on the day. We have a fun and relaxed approach and are confident of capturing you at your best which helps to put you at ease and enjoy the photography. There is a big difference between having your photo taken by a professional photographer as opposed to what you might have experienced with photos taken by friends or family. We also provide you with a range of photos so that there will be plenty of styles and expressions to choose from.

 [TOP]

Who will take our photographs?

David is the principle photographer who will be at your wedding. Our only exception to this is if we agree a different arrangement with you beforehand. You may wish to have a second photographer to capture your wedding. David can arrange this if required. This gives you the assurance that you will have the photographers you have met and the style that you have seen represented in our Wedding Book's and website.

What are the advantages of digital cameras?

Digital cameras allow us to take almost an unlimited amount of photographs, enabling an even better selection for you to choose from. Digital images also give us more control over quality and allow us to offer you both colour or black and white along with other creative effects for every photograph that we take. David shoots everything Raw enabling him to be totally in control of the image process capturing detail in the highlights and shadows creating stunning photographs. Having shot conventional film for years, David switched to digital when he considered that the quality of the final prints from professional digital cameras and printing superseded that of conventional professional film. Digital printing brings every aspect of quality under our control, so we can get consistently great results.

 [TOP]

Are there any disadvantages with digital photography?

In the wrong hands digital images can suffer from poor colour or density, undue digital noise, unnatural sharpening, over or under exposure and loss of detail in the highlights or shadows. By hiring a professional you can have peace of mind that all of these issues will be avoided with the correct exposure, lighting, colour and density calibration and technical experience to achieve stunning results.

[TOP]

Do you do your own printing?

I control the quality of all the digital files for best colour and tone, with regularly colour calibrated technology. I work closely with a professional photography lab for consistently high quality photographic printing results. The time, care and attention to detail ensures you get great photos. By using a professional lab we ensure that the printed photos have the best chance of long term life without undue fading. David does not use Ink-Jet prints in any of his Wedding Book's.

What digital manipulation do you perform?

We aim to offer you authentic images that are true to the original moment captured. The beauty and flair of our images are achieved in the way we take the original photo - by using the light, location, pose and composition rather than digital tricks.

We ensure that the digital quality controls of colour balance and tonal range are checked and adjusted to get the most pleasing result. Images may sometimes be ‘tidied’ if necessary - which may mean a slight softening of lines or skin blemishes where desirable.

As an additional option, to the original image, we may also present digitally enhanced photographs with artistic effects. For instance bringing out the colour of the bouquet whilst leaving everything else black and white.

Can we check feedback from other customers?

Yes, we receive a great deal of positive feedback from our customers. You can view some of their comments in the testimonials section of this website.

 [TOP]

Are you a member of any photographic institutes?

Yes we produce a DVD slideshow free of charge that plays on your TV in the comfort of your living room for all our wedding couples that order Wedding Books. This is set to music of your choice and displays your wedding images in chapters allowing you to view the various stages of your wedding rather than watching the entire wedding from start to finish. There is of course the option to "view all."

 [TOP]

How else can we enjoy our photos?

We can offer various options for reprints, enlargements and framing. Acrylic art piece's are very much in vogue which can allow us to arrange several photos in one frame to create a great art piece for your home. We can also arrange thank you cards for your guests along with Parent Books, Mini-Books and all the images on disc as an additional option.
